Streamlining of Snowy ownership welcomed

The Australian Energy Council today welcomed the agreement to consolidate the ownership of Snowy Hydro.

The AEC’s Chief Executive, Matthew Warren, said once finalised sole stewardship by the Federal Government would increase flexibility and provide greater certainty.

“Snowy has always been an important part of the National Electricity Market and this agreement not only simplifies the ownership structure, but will support streamlined decision making.

“That is a critical benefit in an energy market that continues to rapidly transform.”

About the Australian Energy Council

The Council represents 21 major electricity and downstream natural gas businesses operating in competitive wholesale and retail energy markets. These businesses collectively generate the overwhelming majority of electricity in Australia and sell gas and electricity to over 10 million homes and businesses.
