Australian Energy Council congratulates Daniel Westerman

The Australian Energy Council congratulates Daniel Westerman on his appointment as CEO and Managing Director of the Australian Energy Market Operator.

Welcoming the announcement, the Australian Energy Council’s Chief Executive, Sarah McNamara, said “Mr Westerman’s energy experience overseas is impressive and his knowledge of markets in the UK and US will be invaluable to assist AEMO as it navigates the challenges ahead.”

“His deep experience in energy transition and commercial markets make him a fine choice to protect the future security of the National Electricity Market, and balance the energy needs of today with the necessary changes for the future.”

“His participation in Energy Security Board work will also be critical.”

“I, and the AEC’s members, wish Daniel every success and we look forward to working with him in this most significant role.”

“We’d also like to express our great appreciation to Nino Ficca for his leadership of the AEMO through this transitional period as Interim CEO.”
